Jessica Briscoe, Colorado Criminal Defense Attorney

Jessica Briscoe Headshot

Colorado Legal Defense Group Attorney Jessica Briscoe has been practicing criminal defense for over four-and-a-half years in Colorado. Prior to joining our team, Jessica handled many complex felony cases, including homicidessexual assaults, and more. Jessica is also skilled in litigating DUI cases and has a reputation for achieving acquittals for her clients at trial.

Jessica explains her approach to criminal defense:

I have an approach that I am consistent with whether it be a speeding ticket or a homicide charge. Every time I am opened a new case, I start with a thorough review of discovery, notating discrepancies in police reports as well as analyzing the strengths and weaknesses in the prosecutor’s case. I then conduct a formal advisement with my client so they are aware of their legal rights, the charges and possible penalties they’re facing if convicted at trial, and then I review all discovery with my client and obtain their version of events. During that initial advisement, I work closely with my clients to understand their goals- whether it be a resolution or trial. If my client would like to negotiate, I work closely with the prosecutor to present thorough mitigation and a proposed counteroffer. Oftentimes, this requires me to build a picture to show the prosecutor that my clients are human beings with their own stories and individual circumstances. If my client would like to set for trial, then I work closely with them to determine strategy and necessary investigation. I am very skilled in negotiating and have represented clients in 20+ jury trials, receiving acquittals in a lot of those as well.

Jessica lives in Colorado Springs with her husband and three cats. She is originally from Chicago, so the beauty of the mountains never fails to amaze her. In her free time, Jessica loves hiking, going to the movies, and trying new local restaurants.

Notable Cases

2025People v. J.H. (El Paso County): Client was charged with a level 1 drug felony, carrying 12 to 32 years in state prison. Jessica filed a motion to suppress all evidence due to an unlawful search. Court granted the motion, prompting the prosecutor to dismiss the case. 2025People v. M.M. (El Paso County): Client was charged with first-degree assault as a class 3 felonycrime of violence for stabbing another person. At trial, Jessica argued self-defense, and the jury returned an acquittal. 2024People v. G.B. (El Paso County): Client was charged with domestic violence-related stalking as a class 5 felony. Jessica relied on mitigating evidence to get the charge pleaded down to non-domestic violence-related harassment as a class 1 misdemeanor. After an unsupervised six-month deferred sentence and fine payment, the case was sealed. 2024People v. I.Y. (El Paso County): Client was charged with a fourth-DUI, which is a class 4 felony. Jessica filed and argued a Rule 16 sanctions motion for undisclosed parts of a toxicology report. The court granted Jessica’s motion and suppressed blood results showing client’s THC level. This prompted the D.A. to move to dismiss the case the morning of the trial, and the case was sealed. 2024People v. F.A. (El Paso County): Client was charged with one count of menacing as a class 5 felony and two counts of child abuse. At the Rule 16 hearing, the judge agreed to suppress a lot of evidence. At trial, the judge dropped one count of child abuse pursuant to a “motion for judgment of acquittal.” The jury then acquitted client on the remaining counts. 2024 People v. A.F. (El Paso County): Client was a passenger in a stolen vehicle and was charged with motor vehicle theft, a felony. Jessica took it to trial without co-counsel, and the jury fully acquitted client. 2023People v. T.G. (El Paso County):  Client was on camera painting a stolen car a different color and driving it. At trial, Jessica argued that client did not know the car was stolen (“lack of knowledge”). Jury acquitted client of motor vehicle theft, a felony. 2022People v. J.C. (El Paso County): Client was charged with driving under the influence of drugs (DUID). At trial, the D.A. brought up the client’s prior felony convictions. Despite this, Jessica persuaded the jury to acquit client on all counts. 2021People v. V.C. (El Paso County): Client was charged with driving under the influence of marijuana for having a 10ng THC/ml, which is double the “legal limit.” The first trial resulted in a mistrial due to a juror falling asleep. At the second trial, the jury returned an acquittal.
